International photo competition “Focus on Places of Peace in Europe”

in Deutsch

Peace treaties are an important experience in the history of Europe in permanently resolving and pacifying conflicts. This year Eilenburg celebrates the 380th anniversary of the Peace of Eilenburg 1646-2026. The anniversary year surprises with a number of highlights, including the international photo competition on the topic: “Focus on Places of Peace in Europe”, which we hereby call for.

The photo competition focuses on places of peace (places where a peace treaty was concluded) and the people in these places. Also in the form that we commemorate the 150th birthday of an outstanding photographer of the 20th century.

With August Sander the focus is not only on the places of peace themselves, but also on the people in these special places. Places of peace are places where peace treaties have been signed throughout history. There are over 200 large and small places of peace known in Europe. The small cosmopolitan town of Eilenburg in Saxony is one of them.

All photographers who come from such a place of peace, live there or visit a place of peace, take portraits of themselves or other people at the place of peace or creatively showcase the place itself and the topic of the peace treaty can take part.
